Next time you want to take pictures, you might want to be able to quote CTA� Rail Service Bulletin R146-03, "personal photographers are permitted on CTA property if their activity is incidental, does not pose a distraction to others and does not affect any customer or employee's safety. Individuals in this category may be identified by the use of simple cameras. Personal photographers generally spend little time in one location and take pictures while waiting for a train."

Just don't use flash and try not to annoy anyone, and you should be allowed. If someone asks you to stop though, definitely cooperate.

Fun day! About three weeks ago, walking down Belmont about 3 blocks east of the red line station, a guy pulled up next to me in a black SUV and told me almost the exact same story. There was nothing about drinking, but everything else was the same - he said he worked in the movie industry, and pulled out the photo album with a picture of him and good 'ol Bruce Willis. It all sounded too good to be true, so I didn't give him any money. Now I'm glad I didn't!

That guy who asked to borrow money from you is a man with a gambling problem. He has given me that story multiple times and when I called him out on it, he admitted he has a gambling problem. He's usually driving around Lakeview and sometimes Lincoln Park with that same exact story.

It says that PERSONAL, NON-COMMERCIAL photography is permitted by the CTA, but commercial photography requires a permit, and you should, if challenged, cite the CTA Communications Department. The FAQ also offers some other good advice regarding safety and interaction with CTA personnel.

I can't believe you went thru every station -- that's crazy. Sounds fun, actually. That would be great to do with a group.

But I think that Mr. $70,000/yr. could have bailed himself out. He had no friends to call? His wife & child were too fragile to take a cab home from the airport? The real question is, did you get your money back?
